StayFed ("StayFed," "we," "us," or "our") is a verification and ratings service for travel accommodations operating from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you visit stayfed.org or interact with our services. Contact: business@stayfed.org.

Information we collect

We only collect personal information that you voluntarily provide. We do not use tracking cookies or behavioural analytics that identify individuals. Information we collect includes:

• Application form data — your name, email, optional phone number, company, property name and address, property type, listing URL, and your responses about dietary category interest.
• Waitlist data — your email address and selected dietary categories.
• Correspondence — emails you send to business@stayfed.org and any related communications.
• Technical data — limited server logs from our hosting provider (Vercel) including IP address, browser type, and request timestamps, retained for security purposes only.

How we use your information

We use the information you provide to:

• Review your property and produce a StayFed Rating
• Contact you about your application or waitlist signup
• Send service-related updates (no marketing without consent)
• Improve our scoring methodology and product
• Comply with legal obligations

We never sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

Service providers we use

We use trusted third-party services to operate StayFed. Each has its own privacy practices, and your information may pass through them as required to provide the service:

• Vercel — website hosting (servers in the US/EU)
• Formspree — receiving and storing form submissions
• Google Workspace — email correspondence at business@stayfed.org
• Namecheap — domain registration

How long we keep your information

We retain application and waitlist data for as long as it remains relevant to providing you with a StayFed Rating or related communications, and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping and legal compliance. You can request deletion at any time by emailing business@stayfed.org.

Your rights under Canadian privacy law

Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate information
• Request deletion of your information
• Withdraw consent at any time
• File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from loss, theft, unauthorized access, and disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we use HTTPS encryption on all pages and store form data with reputable providers using industry-standard security.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated to users who have provided contact information.
